Overview
Kriti clarified a six-person backend hiring plan spanning SDE2 and SDE3 levels. The intake established distributed systems as the core requirement while allowing complementary strengths in data pipelines and agentic systems.
The Story
Kriti worked through a broad backend brief that initially covered backend, data engineering, infrastructure, and platform backgrounds. She asked targeted questions about system scale, data volume, AI and machine learning exposure, location expectations, compensation, and seniority.
The discussion established distributed systems as the central requirement. Candidates could bring either experience at large scale or evidence that they could establish a system and process from zero to one.
Kriti also separated essential capability from optional experience. Backend depth and learning ability remained central, while data pipelines and agentic harness work could distinguish different hires across the team.
The final brief covered three SDE2 and three SDE3 hires. Seniority would reflect experience, accountability, roadmap ownership, and, at the SDE3 level, mentoring expectations.
