Overview
Yajur worked on a commercial strategy and pricing engagement at Deloitte for the central bank of a Caribbean nation. The client wanted to understand how to design an ATM fee amendment framework for their country, and the core research task was to map how different governments and central banks around the world structured ATM transaction fees.
The Story
Yajur worked on a commercial strategy and pricing engagement at Deloitte for the central bank of a Caribbean nation. The client wanted to understand how to design an ATM fee amendment framework for their country, and the core research task was to map how different governments and central banks around the world structured ATM transaction fees.
The challenge was that the models varied significantly across geographies and were not straightforward to decode. In markets like the UK, the split of cost burden between acquiring and issuing banks involved layered regulatory structures that were difficult to summarize without deep familiarity with the local framework.
Yajur used AI tools to accelerate the benchmarking process, specifically to summarize complex regulatory and pricing models from multiple geographies into a format that could be used for comparative analysis. He was deliberate about validating AI outputs against primary sources, checking that referenced data points were traceable to credible sources rather than accepting model outputs at face value.
The output was a structured benchmarking of global ATM fee models, covering how different governments subsidize consumer transaction costs, how fee-sharing between banks is structured, and what policy levers were available to the Caribbean central bank as it designed its own framework. This fed directly into the client's fee amendment recommendations.
