The Story
Built Speckbit in third year of engineering after identifying a gap in online learning: self-learners had access to fragmented resources but no defined path to reach a goal. On the other side, experts who wanted to teach online had to create entire curricula before they could start, which was a massive friction.
Built a collaborative platform where experts could curate learning roadmaps using existing resources, and students could discover them, clone them, remix them to their own needs, and hire coaches at a fixed hourly rate. Coaches didn't have to teach the whole curriculum; they could jump in where the student needed help.
Couldn't find a technical co-founder, so learned to code and built the entire platform solo. Bootstrapped revenue by running a coding bootcamp on the side. Built distribution by running one-day workshops in Bangalore colleges, teaching hundreds of students at a time, then pointing them to roadmaps on the platform.
Scaled to tens of thousands of active users learning everything from building startups to coding to machine learning and design. Took the business to six-figure ARR over three and a half years, mostly from the bootcamp. Tried raising funding for a year to scale the marketplace but realized it wasn't VC-fundable. At 24, chose to exit rather than run a lifestyle business, selling the tech to another company.
