The existing sourcing relied on standard databases. These are comprehensive for announced deals but lag for early-stage and stealth-stage companies, particularly in emerging sectors where founders are not yet actively seeking press coverage.
He identified the gap and proposed a fix. For a fund focused on pre-seed and seed investing, a lag of several weeks meant missing the window to engage founders at the most favorable valuation. He suggested adding LinkedIn creator networks and Reddit communities as live sourcing channels.
He identified a small set of LinkedIn creators, deep tech and tech investors based in the US, who published weekly funding announcements and new company launches. These posts typically appeared well ahead of the same deals showing up on standard databases. He also identified relevant Reddit communities where founders and operators discussed new ventures and sector developments.
The expanded tracker gave the client a materially earlier view of the market, particularly for stealth-stage companies. This sourcing approach directly fed the pipeline that led to the voice AI deal.
