Suyank joined HeyHey when the company already had a shout-out platform in market and wanted to move into NFTs. At the time, smart contract development was genuinely new territory: there were few references available, and most engineers had not touched it. He was handed the mandate to build the marketplace end-to-end.
The Story
Suyank joined HeyHey when the company already had a shout-out platform in market and wanted to move into NFTs. At the time, smart contract development was genuinely new territory: there were few references available, and most engineers had not touched it. He was handed the mandate to build the marketplace end-to-end.
He started by learning the full stack from scratch. He taught himself Solidity smart contract development, covering token minting, transfers, and wallet interactions, while simultaneously designing the frontend experience. There was no existing codebase to build on and no other engineer who had done this before.
The architecture connected Solidity contracts deployed on-chain to a React frontend via Web3.js and Ethers.js, which handled wallet connections, contract function calls, and ownership state. The user experience was intentionally simple: a single-page interface showing available NFTs, a mint flow, and a wallet-connected view showing tokens already owned.
He shipped the full marketplace in under two months. The launch generated significant revenue for HeyHey, making it one of the most direct revenue contributions Suyank made during his time there.
