The Story
When Suyank joined Segwise as a Founding Engineer, the company needed to raise funds and had a hard deadline: ship a working product in one month. The product was Segwise.ai, an analytics platform for product managers that surfaced onboarding, acquisition, retention, and activation data in a single interface.
With a one-month window, the team had to make deliberate tradeoffs. Suyank had planned to build a proper design system from the ground up, but the team collectively decided to use existing templates and component libraries to move faster. The goal was to get something real in front of investors, not to build the ideal architecture.
The team shipped a working product in one month. The fundraise succeeded. Once the company had runway, Suyank led the revamp: rebuilding the design system properly, cleaning up the codebase, and investing in the maintainability that had been deferred.
The Segwise story is a clean example of Suyank's approach to early-stage tradeoffs: ship what is needed to prove the bet, then invest in quality once the bet is proven.
