Overview
During his time at PeakAlpha, Siddhant ran a portfolio analysis for a client that came back with a blend that did not match what the client was looking for. The initial portfolio carried more risk than the client's validated risk profile could support, and the equity-to-debt ratio was not aligned with their expectations.
The Story
During his time at PeakAlpha, Siddhant ran a portfolio analysis for a client that came back with a blend that did not match what the client was looking for. The initial portfolio carried more risk than the client's validated risk profile could support, and the equity-to-debt ratio was not aligned with their expectations.
Rather than defending the initial output, he reset the analysis. He brought in a senior colleague to review the scenario, and together they rebuilt the portfolio blend with a higher allocation to lower-risk instruments. The goal was to find a configuration that would still deliver meaningful future returns while staying within the client's risk tolerance.
The revised portfolio was presented to the client with a clear rationale: the new blend reduced near-term risk exposure while preserving the long-term return potential the client was seeking. The client accepted the revised recommendation.
