The Story
While working on client portfolios at PeakAlpha, Siddhant observed that more and more Indian consumers were willing to invest in equity and debt markets, but engagement with insurance remained low. He decided to dig into why.
He researched how Indian consumers actually perceive insurance and found a consistent pattern: most people treat insurance as an expense rather than as a risk-protection instrument. This was not an assigned research task; he pursued it independently because the gap in client behavior was visible in his day-to-day portfolio work.
With that insight, he rebuilt the narrative he used with clients. Instead of presenting insurance as a cost, he framed it as a protective layer for the equity and debt portfolio. The argument was direct: if a life event forces a client to liquidate their equity or debt holdings prematurely, the long-term return potential of those assets is destroyed. Insurance protects against that disruption.
He shared this reframing with his team and incorporated it into his client conversations, shifting how the portfolio was presented and how clients thought about the role of insurance within it.
