The Story
Sarthi joined WNS as a TMT analyst. Within his first months, he was moved to the healthcare sector, a domain with a completely different technical vocabulary: drug development phases, NDA approvals, clinical trial outcomes, and how regulatory events move share prices.
He had no prior healthcare knowledge. Rather than waiting for formal training to catch up, he ran a parallel self-study track alongside his live work. He read sector primers, studied company filings and investor presentations from major healthcare players, reviewed previous research requests the team had delivered, and stayed close to the top performers on his team to understand how they approached the work.
He also paid close attention to how sector-specific events, such as clinical trial results, shaped share price movements in ways that had no equivalent in TMT. Within a matter of weeks, he was operating independently, leading a small analyst team and running his own research without needing senior guidance on sector fundamentals.
