Overview
Sandeep helped build Razorpay's chargeback protection product from zero to one for cross-border merchants. The offer converted uncertain dispute exposure into a predictable fee backed by Razorpay's payment and network data.
The Story
Sandeep moved into Razorpay's risk organization with scope across transaction, payment, and merchant risk. Cross-border merchants faced meaningful chargeback exposure in card-heavy markets, creating a need for more predictable economics.
He and the team designed a protection model in which merchants paid a fixed fee and Razorpay covered eligible future disputes. The product translated internal payment and network data into a commercial risk offer.
The work required customer research with merchants, including travel businesses that handled disputes manually. Sandeep examined how the product could fit existing checkout and payment integrations without creating heavy implementation work.
He also worked across engineering, business, legal, network, and potential insurance partners. The team studied international precedents and built the economics without an established internal model.
The resulting product supported Razorpay's cross-border offering and became part of a profitable growth area. Available evidence does not isolate its precise revenue or margin contribution.
