The Story
Saloni joined BNP Paribas as an Associate in the back-office operations team covering equity markets. Her role sits at the intersection of front-office trading and counterparty settlement: she and her team see both sides of every deal and are responsible for ensuring trades settle correctly and on time.
Every day, a new set of deals arrives from different data centers and originates from various clients. Her job is to catch mismatches before they become settlement failures. When a deal shows an incorrect interest rate, an account number discrepancy, or any other break, she flags it, contacts the relevant trader directly, and pushes for resolution. Because multiple deals mature on the same day, prioritization is constant.
The stakes of missing a break are significant. A single error in a bank account number can redirect large sums to the wrong account, triggering a lengthy recovery process. Catching those errors early is the core of the role.
She manages a defined set of client relationships within the team, maintaining ongoing contact with counterparties to ensure deals move through the settlement process correctly.
