The Story
One of Sabah's core responsibilities at Google India was managing the flow between product teams and creative agencies. Product teams arrived with technical briefs and messaging mandatories; creative agencies needed direction they could actually execute. Sabah sat between them.
The challenge was that product teams were often focused narrowly on their own messaging requirements, without a clear view of what each social platform could carry. A brief written for a text-heavy post could not simply be adapted for a visual-first platform, which required decisions about format, visual treatment, placement, and CTA design.
Sabah's framework was platform-first. She held a consistent point of view for each channel, and used that as the arbiter when product mandatories and creative possibilities came into tension. The question was always: what does this platform do well, and how do we honor both the product mandate and the platform's strengths?
This approach required her to understand both sides well enough to translate between them without losing either. She gave product teams confidence that their messaging would land, and gave agencies enough creative latitude to do their best work within a clear brief.
