Overview
Saanvi worked on a green hydrogen project at KPMG where the client needed to identify which Indian green hydrogen projects were worth investing in. The dataset they had was incomplete: it covered some projects but lacked the structured criteria needed to evaluate them comparably.
The Story
Saanvi worked on a green hydrogen project at KPMG where the client needed to identify which Indian green hydrogen projects were worth investing in. The dataset they had was incomplete: it covered some projects but lacked the structured criteria needed to evaluate them comparably.
Rather than working only with what was given, she built the evaluation framework herself. She started by reading extensively about the green hydrogen industry, the companies operating in it, and the factors that determined project viability. From that research, she identified six feasibility criteria: electrolyzer capacity, location, infrastructure, project stage, commercial viability, and execution potential.
Two of the criteria, electrolyzer capacity and location, appeared consistently across the existing dataset, which confirmed their relevance. The remaining four she developed from her own research, drawing on industry articles and her understanding of what made a project commercially and operationally viable.
She then applied the framework to each project in scope, researching the missing data points herself where the dataset had gaps. The output gave the client a structured, comparable view of which projects met the investability threshold and which did not.
This was her first engagement with the green hydrogen sector. She built the framework without prior domain knowledge, relying on structured research to close the gap.
