Overview

Rithika worked on a feasibility study for a leading airport authority that was evaluating whether to develop a cosmetology center on a land parcel near the airport. The project was a three-person team: a director who owned the overall structure, a senior consultant responsible for financial modeling and the final narrative, and Rithika, who owned the ground-level research.

The Story

Rithika worked on a feasibility study for a leading airport authority that was evaluating whether to develop a cosmetology center on a land parcel near the airport. The project was a three-person team: a director who owned the overall structure, a senior consultant responsible for financial modeling and the final narrative, and Rithika, who owned the ground-level research.

Her scope covered market landscaping, customer profiling, and trend analysis for the cosmetology sector in the Indian context. She also led the brand partner outreach, identifying and consolidating potential partners the airport authority could work with to set up the facility.

A distinct challenge on this project was the nature of the client. Rather than pitching to a management team or investment bank, the team was presenting to government officials and ultimately to the chief minister of the state. That required a significant shift in how findings were communicated. The standard consulting deck format, dense with data and jargon, was not appropriate for this audience.

Rithika was responsible for preparing the client-facing decks and managing the communication cadence with government officials. She adapted the presentation style to prioritize clear, simple communication of ground reality, keeping officials updated on research progress and ensuring alignment with the team's direction throughout the engagement.

The project concluded with the airport authority deciding to proceed with the cosmetology center, having been convinced by the research that the investment was viable and that the team had identified the right partners to move forward with.
