The Story
Riddhi was working on a market sizing piece for an agri-tech company preparing for an IPO. The initial approach was a volume-to-value conversion, moving from output quantities to market value.
As the work progressed, she and her manager realized the volume-to-value approach was not capturing the full scope of the market as defined in the brief. Rather than force the numbers to fit, she rebuilt the methodology. The team shifted to collating secondary resources across the market and mapping them into a new framework.
To validate the new approach, she and her manager conducted five expert interviews with industry professionals who had been in the agri-tech space for up to twenty years. The expert calls gave them the market splits and directional confidence that secondary data alone could not provide.
With the validated framework in place, Riddhi led the client call with investment bankers. She presented the rationale for the methodology shift, explained why the original approach had been set aside, and walked through the evidence base for the new one. The bankers accepted the approach.
The presentation covered not just the market size but the growth drivers: which segments were expanding, which regions were expected to grow, and why, grounded in both secondary data and primary expert validation.
