The Story
Rashi was handed access to a company's full data room, including pitch decks, commercial databases, and supplier information, and tasked with turning it into an investment memo the committee could act on. The company operated in food tech.
She structured the memo to move from the broadest context to the most specific decision. It opened with the company's business and product differentiators, then moved through the competitive landscape, market share, financials including profit margins and commercial scalability, IP and patents, future plans, and finally the financing round the company was seeking.
The sequencing was deliberate. Each section built the committee's understanding before asking them to evaluate the next layer of detail. The memo covered both strengths and weaknesses, and included all the variables an investor would need: financials, operational economics, scalability, and competitive positioning.
This work was completed within 1 week under a live deal timeline.
The memo was the primary document the investment committee used to evaluate and approve a $5 million investment in the company.
