The Story
Ramakrishna started BANDM while still in college, aiming to bring recurring local services such as newspaper, cable, and milk delivery onto a mobile operating platform. He had to define the business model, assemble the team, and create the operating rules himself.
He led customer surveys and market mapping to understand how vendors managed customers, subscriptions, sales, and payments. That research shaped a mobile app designed around daily operating work, rather than a single payment feature.
Ramakrishna assembled and managed a 60-person team. His scope included business development plans, marketing, operations, sales optimization, quality control, packaging procedures, and customer acquisition.
LinkedIn records 300 newspaper vendors and 60,000 customers on the platform, with monthly transaction revenue between ₹40 lakh and ₹55 lakh. The venture later closed, giving him direct experience of building a company and deciding when the model no longer justified continued investment.
