Overview
Ramakrishna built ApplyWizz's delivery capacity by recruiting early-career talent and training them through frequent process changes. The model supported growth to approximately 145 employees, including 120 full-time staff, from a tier-three location.
The Story
Ramakrishna needed to build delivery capacity without placing heavy fixed costs on a bootstrapped company. Hiring experienced teams at metropolitan salaries would have strained the model, while the local talent pool required structured development.
He recruited early-career candidates, initially prioritizing people who already had laptops. The staffing decision preserved cash for the operating build, while creating a larger training responsibility for him and the leadership team.
Ramakrishna spent sustained time teaching the US job-application process and updating training as workflows changed. When one process produced weak efficiency, the team moved to another and retrained around it.
The team grew from a tier-three location into an organization of approximately 145 employees, including 120 full-time team members. He credits the adaptability of the early cohort and continues to work on recruiting account managers into that location.
