Overview

Parth was tasked with an investor screening exercise covering close to 250 FTSE 250 companies. The brief called for identifying which institutional investors met specific ownership thresholds relative to a target company, and the initial approach followed the standard underweight analysis the team typically used.

The Story

Parth was tasked with an investor screening exercise covering close to 250 FTSE 250 companies. The brief called for identifying which institutional investors met specific ownership thresholds relative to a target company, and the initial approach followed the standard underweight analysis the team typically used.

The first iteration came back with feedback. The client did not want a static, one-time view. They needed something dynamic, where they could adjust the criteria themselves and see the output change in real time across different scenarios.

Parth rebuilt the model in Excel with a toggle system covering three variables: the minimum number of investors, the minimum percentage of share ownership those investors needed to hold, and the minimum ownership threshold in the target company itself. Whenever the client adjusted any of those numbers, the entire output refreshed automatically.

The result was a scenario-ready screening tool the client could navigate independently, without needing to request a new analysis each time they wanted to test a different set of criteria. The rebuild replaced a one-time deliverable with a reusable decision-support tool.
