The Story
Onkar took on the investment and VC mapping sections of the India Blockchain Landscape report at Hashed Emergent, a public research piece launched at Indian Blockchain Week in September 2025.
His starting point was raw data. He scraped funding records from CryptoRank and Traction, filtering for Indian-founded startups that had raised in the prior twelve months. From that filtered set, he extracted the VCs who had backed them and began structuring the data.
He then organized the VC landscape by geography and sector, mapping global investors who had deployed into Indian blockchain startups and categorizing them by the verticals they favored. The work ran from data pull through to the final slide structure, with his VP guiding the editing and omission decisions.
The report was presented publicly at IBW by the VP of Investments and was picked up by blockchain enthusiasts and VCs across India looking for a read on the current investment landscape. The narrative the data surfaced was a clear shift: capital had moved away from meme coins and liquid yield strategies toward infrastructure, stablecoin payments, and remittance.
