The Story

Neetu took on lead coverage of the textiles and garmenting sector at Axis Mutual Fund, owning the full research workstream without a team around her. There was no one setting her agenda or pushing her to act; every step from initiation to delivery was hers to drive.

Her process started with designing and running plant visits to companies in her coverage universe. She prepared the questionnaires herself, set the agenda for management and promoter interactions, and used those visits to assess whether operations matched the narrative being presented publicly. After each visit, she synthesized what she had learned and passed the relevant findings to fund managers through morning meetings or written notes.

She maintained live financial models for every company in her coverage, updating them as new information came in, whether from quarterly results, capital expenditure announcements, or changes in business outlook. When something material changed, she would update her projections, run the valuation through, and flag the implication to the fund managers.

On a quarterly basis, she produced research reports comparing each company's results against the prior quarter and prior year, capturing management commentary and updating her conviction and valuation. She also maintained a voting repository for corporate governance decisions, which fed into Axis Mutual Fund's published records.

When fund managers were initially skeptical of a finding, she would go deeper: talking to more industry participants, cross-checking with supply chain contacts, and building a small presentation or Excel summary to make the case. She stood behind her research when the evidence supported it.
