The Story
Mohsin joined Crowe as an Analyst after graduating, working as a financial crime analyst within the firm's transaction monitoring function. Every major bank runs algorithms that flag anomalies in transaction data, and Mohsin's role is to review those alerts and determine whether they represent genuine suspicious activity or false positives.
Each review is conducted independently. He receives large datasets of alerted transactions, matches them against the customer's daily transaction history, and researches the sector in which the customer operates. The sector research is done from scratch for each case, requiring him to build context on industries he may not have encountered before.
The output of each review is a thorough report recommending either escalation or waiver. The work requires both analytical precision and the ability to build a credible sector-level argument quickly.
The role has sharpened his ability to work with complex, unstructured data and to form a defensible view under time pressure, skills he has carried across his consulting and research work.
