The Story

A Canadian company approached Fact.MR with a specific question: should they enter the North American CBD market, and if so, when? They needed to understand market size, growth trajectory, the competitive landscape, and the licensing environment in Canada.

Manan owned the research from brief to output. He started with an executive summary, then built out the market sizing, segmental analysis across product types (topicals, edibles, smokables) and distribution channels (online, mass retail, other), and a competitive landscape review.

He applied Porter's Five Forces to assess market entry dynamics and a SWOT analysis to map the client's position relative to the market. The choice of frameworks was deliberate: Porter's Five Forces directly addresses whether a company should enter a market, and the SWOT mapped the client's specific position within it.

His findings showed the market was growing at an 11.2% CAGR, driven by rising consumer interest in natural wellness and alternative health products. The licensing environment in Canada was complex, but the number of established players was low, meaning the window for entry was open.

His recommendation was clear: enter now. The growth rate and market gaps outweighed the licensing friction, and waiting would mean competing against a more crowded field. The report was delivered to the client.
