The Story
At Eximius Ventures, Krishnam was tasked with building the firm's view on AI in wearables, specifically the voice AI segment. The space was active but poorly mapped, and the firm needed a structured perspective to decide whether to invest.
He approached the research in two parallel tracks. The first was secondary research: he worked through institutional primers from a16z and Bessemer Venture Partners, mapped the landscape of players, and built a framework for how the category was evolving. The second was primary research: he ran direct calls with founders building in the space, including teams at Neosapien, Limitless, and Arrowhead, to understand the real problems companies were facing and where the market was actually heading.
The combination of institutional framing and founder-level ground truth gave him a perspective that neither source alone could provide. He synthesized both tracks into a structured investment thesis that addressed the core question: is this a space Eximius should be investing in now, and if so, where?
The thesis served two purposes. Internally, it shaped the firm's investment stance on the voice AI and wearables category. Externally, the firm published a condensed version on LinkedIn, which generated meaningful reach, attracted founder attention, and reinforced Eximius's positioning as a credible voice in the space.
