The Story

Krishnam was working at Techno Centre when a glass installation project at a new IT office ran into serious trouble. The scope was to install glass panels across dozens of cubicles. Midway through the project, the architect left the site, leaving no clear coordination across the trades. The client was under pressure and demanding immediate delivery.

Krishnam was not the assigned project manager. His role was on the glass installation side. But with the site in disarray and no one coordinating the sequence, he stepped in and took on the coordination function himself. He assessed the dependencies: flooring had to be complete before furniture, furniture before glass. Installing glass into an unfinished environment would result in breakage and client losses.

The client pushed hard for immediate installation. Krishnam held the position that it was too early, explaining the sequencing logic. The client did not accept this and insisted on installing a small number of panels immediately. Krishnam agreed to install those as a concession, while maintaining that the rest would wait. Those panels broke, as he had anticipated.

With that outcome as evidence, the client accepted the sequencing approach. Krishnam coordinated the remaining installation across the flooring, plumbing, and furniture teams, waited for each stage to clear, and then completed the glass installation. The remaining panels were installed without breakage, and the project was delivered on time and within cost.
