The Story
Katherene founded Sugar Angels with the aim of creating custom cake celebrations for critically ill children, modeled in part on Icing Smiles.
The organization initially worked with hospitals and inpatient care settings, supporting children and their families during difficult periods.
Katherene later expanded the focus beyond the child's birthday. She recognized that a family's celebrations carried particular weight when time together could be limited, and included family birthdays in the service.
