The Story
Kasak joined Filtrec Bharat as a finance intern, with no prior exposure to corporate budgeting. She sat in on monthly finance meetings where each department presented its budget requirements, and worked alongside the finance manager to understand how those numbers were evaluated and consolidated.
Her role in the monthly budgeting process was a supporting one. The finance manager taught her the mechanics of how budgets were structured in Excel and how to document the outputs. At the end of each month, she helped draft the variance analysis report, comparing the forecasted budget against actual numbers.
Separately, she was asked to support the marketing side of the business ahead of the firm's annual sales meetup. She built a sales dashboard in Power BI for the sales team, pulling together the data they needed to present at the event. This was a more independent deliverable, completed to a client-ready standard.
The internship gave her a working understanding of how corporate finance operates at the department level, how variance analysis is structured, and how to translate raw financial data into a presentable format.
