The Story

At the boutique consulting firm, Kartik worked with early-stage startups that had data but no coherent story. Most had never built a pitch deck before. A few had existing materials, but those were dense and unfocused, built for founders rather than investors.

His job was to take whatever the startup had and restructure it into a narrative an investor could act on. That meant identifying the core problem, the solution, the founder's background, the target market size, the realistic capture potential, current revenue or user traction, and early customer feedback. Each of these had to be sequenced in a way that answered an investor's questions before they were asked.

The harder cases were startups with too much data. He had to make judgment calls about what to cut and what to lead with, knowing that an investor who cannot follow the story in the first few slides will not stay for the rest.

Beyond pitch decks, he also built financial models to support the narrative, giving investors a quantitative frame alongside the qualitative story. The output was a package that could be presented to HNIs and angel investors with check sizes up to 1 crore.
