The Story
Kanav joined Inflexor Ventures as part of a lean team focused on seed and Series A investments in Deep Tech and B2B SaaS. The team structure meant he owned meaningful parts of the evaluation process from the first founder interaction through IC preparation.
He started by going out into the market to source founders, identifying companies that could be interesting for the fund, and then led initial founder calls to understand the problem being solved, the customer need, product differentiation, and why the team was positioned to win. From those calls, he created investment memos, a standardized document that structured the opportunity for partner decision-making.
Building the Investment Case
After initial discussions, Kanav owned the deeper evaluation workstream. He built TAM analyses from first principles, mapped competitive landscapes, conducted commercial due diligence, and tested whether founder claims were supported by market data and comparable companies. He assessed factors including revenue quality, scalability, go-to-market approach, unit economics, and key execution risks. Where information was incomplete, he prepared follow-up question lists and worked directly with founders to close gaps.
He then translated the analysis into the investment memo, bringing together the market opportunity, company strengths, risks, valuation considerations, and the core investment case. For opportunities that progressed, he supported diligence coordination, term sheet inputs, portfolio onboarding, and customer due diligence.
Customer Due Diligence That Changed a Deal
On one fintech deal involving a working capital product for small MSMEs, Kanav conducted direct customer due diligence, calling customers on the ground and speaking with them in their native language. What he found was a disconnect between what customers actually needed, what they were willing to pay, and what the company believed its product roadmap should deliver.
He turned those conversations into structured analysis and presented the findings to the partners. The deal progressed, but the customer intelligence changed the valuation and prompted the founders to revisit their product assumptions based on an outside perspective.
