About Stayt
Home management is broken in a specific, invisible way: the mental load of coordinating repairs, errands, vendor follow-ups, and household logistics falls entirely on the person who lives there. Stayt is built to take that load off completely. One home manager, fifty households, every issue tracked from open to resolved — so the people living there can spend their time on something that actually matters.
The team is small, early, and moving fast. Pre-seed funded, Bengaluru-based, and led by a founder with a background spanning Amazon, Waymo, and Gojek — someone who has shipped complex systems at scale and knows what scrappy, high-ownership engineering looks like in practice.
A real problem, solved from the ground up. Built in Bengaluru, for every home.
About the Role
As the Founding Full Stack Engineer at Stayt, you will own the architecture and build of the customer app and CRM backend from the ground up.
You will make the tech stack calls, ship a chat-based beta on iOS and Android within the first ninety days, and connect the customer app to the CRM so issues flow end-to-end. The role asks for strong full-stack fundamentals, sharp product judgment, and the instinct to build simple and fast.
You will work directly with the founder and coordinate with a contract engineer already building the CRM backend.
What You'll Own
The customer app, end to end. Design and ship a chat-based iOS and Android app that mirrors the simplicity of a WhatsApp group.
The CRM integration. Connect the customer app to the backend so every issue raised flows into the home manager's lifecycle tracker.
Architecture decisions. Own the tech stack choices, data models, and API design with no prescribed answers.
Internal ops tooling. Build the workflows and tooling the home manager team runs on as Stayt scales to new societies.
Engineering culture. Set the standards, velocity, and hiring bar as the first technical hire.
You'll Be A Great Fit If
Shipped production apps to the App Store or Play Store. You have taken at least one app from build to live, and you own the outcome.
Built full-stack in ambiguous environments. You have worked where the spec was thin and made the calls that kept things moving.
Solved for the user, not the tech. Your default question is whether the feature solves the problem, not whether it is technically interesting.
Owned architecture at an early stage. You have chosen a stack, defended it, and lived with the tradeoffs.
Moved fast without creating chaos. You have shipped quickly and left the codebase in a state the next engineer could work in.
Comfortable coordinating across contributors. You have worked alongside contract engineers or external teams and kept the build coherent.
How We Work
Start with the customer problem. Every build decision begins with what the user actually needs, not what is technically elegant.
Make the call, then loop in. Move with autonomy on day-to-day decisions; bring the founder in before shipping anything that changes direction.
Ship the simple version first. A working beta beats a polished prototype. Speed of learning matters more than completeness.
Fit the chaos, then build the structure. The environment is unstructured by design right now; your job is to bring order as you go, not wait for it.
Work in the room. The team is on-site in Bengaluru; alignment happens in person, not over async threads.
Think in systems, not features. Every screen you build connects to a workflow; keep the whole picture in view.
The Opportunity
Cash compensation of ₹20L to ₹24L a year. Stock options vest over four years. You work directly with the founder and own the full technical surface of the product. The role gives you the architecture and culture of a company from its first line of code.
