Software Development Engineer (Full Stack)

Global investing for Indians has been an afterthought for most of the financial industry. Spring Street is built on the belief that it shouldn't be. The founding team brings backgrounds from Goldman Sachs, Tata, and IIT Kanpur, and the platform is already live: resident Indians can onboard, fund, trade, and manage a global portfolio through it today.

The engineering team is small by design, high-ownership by necessity. Tests come first on hard problems. Security is treated as inviolable. The people here understand both the finance and the tech, and that combination is what makes the product possible.

Spring Street's platform is live. Indians can already onboard, fund, trade, and manage a global portfolio through it. The engineering team is one person. This hire doubles it, and the work that unlocks is real: new features across onboarding, funding, trading, baskets, and portfolio; stability and observability on flows where money moves; and the compliance and infrastructure surface that a regulated fintech must hold.

You'll work across the Go backend and the React/TypeScript frontend, own features from API contract to UI, and carry production responsibility after launch. The person who clicks here has been close enough to finance to read a product requirement and know what the edge cases are before anyone spells them out. That instinct is what makes the difference on a two-person team.

• The full feature lifecycle. Design, build, test, and ship end-to-end features across the Go backend and React/TypeScript frontend, from API contract to UI, and own them in production after launch.
• Money and sensitive flows. Onboarding, KYC, funding, and order execution, where correctness, idempotency, and security are non-negotiable and every edge case matters.
• API contracts. Define and evolve Protocol Buffer contracts; keep frontend and backend stubs in sync as the product grows.
• Observability you instrument yourself. Add Prometheus metrics, OpenTelemetry traces, and structured logs to what you ship, then use them to debug issues across the wire.
• The compliance and infrastructure surface. As the team grows, take on DevOps, regulated integrations, and the platform work that keeps a fintech running cleanly.
• Code quality across the team. Review teammates' pull requests, hold the bar on testing and maintainability, and help set the engineering culture as the team scales.

• You've been a founding or early engineer at a fintech startup. You know what it takes to go from a live-but-small platform to something that handles real scale, and you've done it with your hands.
• Go or Java is your primary backend language. You don't need to have shipped Go in production, but you need the fundamentals to move fast in it. Willingness to own both sides of the stack matters here.
• You carry financial literacy into your code. When a PM describes a trading flow or a funding instruction, you know what the edge cases are. You don't need every case spelled out.
• You've shipped production web applications with real correctness requirements. Tests, idempotency, security, and observability aren't afterthoughts for you; they're how you build.
• Your instincts are startup-calibrated. You've worked somewhere that moved fast and held quality at the same time. Big, slow-moving AMCs or pure B2B enterprise shops are a different gear.
• You're plugged into the business, not just the systems. On a two-person engineering team, you need to understand where the product is going and why, not just what the ticket says.
• Tier 1 or Tier 2 engineering pedigree, or equivalent demonstrated depth. Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and clean, maintainable code.

• Own it in production. You ship it, you monitor it, you fix it. There is no handoff to an ops team.
• Correctness before cleverness. On flows where money moves, getting it right matters more than getting it elegant. Write the test first on the hard problems.
• Work across the wire. Frontend and backend are one surface here. You're expected to move across both, even if you're stronger on one side today.
• Be in the room. This is an on-site, high-presence team. The best ideas come from being physically close to the problem and the people.
• Street-smart over siloed. Understand the business context behind the ticket. Ask the question that saves three days of rework.
• Work hard, make it fun. Long hours are real, and so are the team activities. Both are part of how this team operates.

₹20L–₹40L base depending on experience, with ESOPs of 25–50% of base CTC on a four-year vest. A founding-team-adjacent seat at an early-stage fintech with a live platform, a small high-ownership team, and a category that has barely been touched in India.
