About Cardboard
Cardboard is an agentic video editor for growth/marketing teams and serious creators who need to ship videos consistently. Instead of agencies, long timelines, and infinite review cycles, teams give cardboard a footage + a goal (“3 variants”, “30s hook”, “testimonials”) to get a strong first cut in minutes on which they can iterate quickly.
Cardboard believes AI video creation should make creators faster without taking the creative control out of their hands.
Its editor brings generation, editing, and export into one place, and learns how each creator works along the way.
About the Role
As Product Engineer, Mobile at Cardboard, you will build its mobile editor from scratch.
You will choose the stack and own architecture, media handling, uploads, sync, performance, and release. The role requires strong mobile craft, product taste, and 0 to 1 judgment.
You will work in Bengaluru with the co-founder, engineering lead, and product team.
What You'll Own
- The mobile editor. Build Cardboard's first mobile product from architecture through app-store release.
- The mobile stack. Choose the technology and set foundations that support the product roadmap.
- Heavy footage on-device. Handle 4K, HDR, and large files within mobile device constraints.
- Resilient uploads. Keep transfers reliable through weak networks, backgrounding, and interruptions.
- Asset sync. Build preprocessing, compression, and selective sync for large video files.
- Editing performance. Make real-time, frame-accurate interactions feel responsive on mobile.
Signs You'll Be A Great Fit
- Shipped a consumer mobile app. You owned meaningful product work used regularly by consumers.
- Built a product from zero. You made architecture and product calls before patterns were established.
- Owned mobile work end to end. You carried features from technical choices through release and iteration.
- Handled demanding client workloads. You improved performance under device, memory, or network limits.
- Worked with media products. Camera, photo, or video experience gives you useful context here.
- Used coding agents with judgment. You work fluently with Claude and can explain each technical choice.
How We Work
- Own the outcome end to end. Take work from an open problem to a product customers can use.
- Ship every week. Keep scopes tight, learn from releases, and improve the product continuously.
- Explain your reasoning. Make technical choices clear enough for the team to challenge and refine.
- Care about every interaction. Notice when the product feels wrong and follow the issue to its cause.
- Use agents with judgment. Move quickly with Claude while reviewing architecture, behavior, and quality.
- Work directly across functions. Build alongside the co-founder, engineering lead, and product team.
- Build together in Bengaluru. The product team works from the HSR office.
The Opportunity
Base compensation of ₹60L a year. Founding ESOPs range from 0.1% to 0.5%. You will work with the co-founder and engineering lead, owning mobile from architecture to app stores. The role gives you Cardboard's mobile product from its first technical choice.
