Overview

Vidyadhar taught himself to code and built Speckbit, a collaborative learning-roadmap platform supported by a revenue-generating bootcamp. The bootstrapped company reached $200K ARR in three years and 35,000 active users.

The Story

Vidyadhar founded Speckbit during engineering college after seeing self-learners struggle to sequence fragmented online resources. He also saw that experts faced a high barrier when teaching online because they were expected to create an entire curriculum first.

He designed a platform where experts curated learning roadmaps from existing videos, articles, books, and courses. Learners could clone and adapt those paths, then hire coaches for targeted help.

After failing to find a technical cofounder, he taught himself Vue.js, Python, Django, and Django REST Framework and built the initial platform and design. He also handled sales, spoke with students and parents, and ran the operating side of the company.

A coding bootcamp funded the product in its early years. Vidyadhar taught full-stack development and machine learning foundations, then used one-day workshops for 200 to 300 students at Bangalore colleges to drive learners onto the platform.

Speckbit reached 35,000 active users and generated $200,000 ARR over three years, primarily through the bootcamp. When the marketplace required outside capital to scale and fundraising did not close, he sold the technology and wound down the company.

The experience gave him full-stack founder range and a clear view of the difference between a sustainable small business and a venture-scale model.
