The Story
Gurbani joined this engagement at Bough Consulting as the lead on a project with no established playbook. A Fortune 500 client was shutting down its Germany subsidiary and needed to migrate 25 years of European financial records to its US parent, restated under SEC standards. Comparable firms had quoted significantly longer timelines for the work.
The engagement was structured across three divisions. Gurbani owned two of the three end to end: research, template design, execution, review, and client presentation. A second team member handled the third.
Early in the project, she ran the work manually. The timeline made that approach untenable. She introduced AI tooling to accelerate the migration, building templates and dashboards that allowed the restatement work to move at a pace the manual process could not sustain.
The shift in approach also forced a shift in how she worked. Coming from KPMG, where multiple review layers existed before work reached a client, she had to recalibrate her own quality bar. A difficult first client call made that clear. She adjusted her review process and accountability standard, and the subsequent delivery held.
The full migration was completed well within the timeline quoted by larger firms.
