Govind joined CEID Consultants as an intern during his third year of mechanical engineering. CEID provides operational workforce to owners of biogas plants who lack the expertise to run them, and his role was to understand how those plants actually functioned.
The Story
Govind joined CEID Consultants as an intern during his third year of mechanical engineering. CEID provides operational workforce to owners of biogas plants who lack the expertise to run them, and his role was to understand how those plants actually functioned.
Over roughly a month, he mapped the full operational process of a biogas plant from raw material intake through to primary and secondary product output. He documented where the process began, how each stage worked, and what was produced at each point.
Beyond the operational mapping, he analyzed the economics of the process. He observed that the cost of raw materials was significantly lower than the revenue generated, making biogas plant operations a high-margin activity. He also identified that the secondary products, primarily agricultural byproducts, had their own market value and represented an additional revenue stream that was underutilized.
This was his first exposure to analyzing a business process through an economic lens, connecting operational inputs to financial outputs.
