The Story
Dhruv joined VKG Consultants as an Associate Consultant on a ten-week investor-readiness mandate for a B2B SaaS risk-intelligence startup. The brief was to prepare the company for a ₹25 Cr raise, and the work spanned competitive research, investor materials, and founder narrative development.
He mapped the competitive landscape across five industry verticals, evaluating each along axes including existing solutions and their gaps, the client's actual differentiation versus generic AI-powered claims, addressable market size, and buyer urgency signals. Where clean TAM data did not exist for niche verticals, he built estimates from adjacent market analogs and made his assumptions explicit in the deliverable rather than presenting them as hard fact.
One of his primary solo outputs was the coffee table booklet: a document that described the company's complete business model, its founding story, its financials, and case studies of live deployments. The booklet was sent to investors as a first-touch introduction, and most recipients engaged with the company's profile and requested follow-up calls.
Turning Mock Pitches into a Founder Narrative
Dhruv organized two mock investor pitches with friendly investors to surface the questions founders would face in real pitches. The sessions revealed that investors would probe not just the product's technical architecture but its origin story, its defensibility, and its cost to replicate.
He took those findings and built a content narrative brief that reframed the product around its core value: risk mitigation in operations, backed by twenty years of the founder's father's industry experience and two hundred live operational deployments. The narrative shifted investor perception from a new-to-market security tool to a proven operational platform with a deep track record. Founders used the brief in subsequent pitches, and investors responded with greater confidence in the product's credibility.
Sector Analysis That Drove Inbound
He also wrote a sector analysis report on the hospital vertical, identifying the top risks hospitals face, reviewing current mitigation approaches, and anchoring the analysis to a real incident: the Kingston Hospital fire, which resulted in significant insurance and fine costs. The report was published on the company's website. It generated inbound interest from hospital sector buyers and converted to paid sales calls.
