The Story

Bharathi interned with Bain and Company's Strategy Centre of Excellence during her final semester at Shiv Nadar University. The team's work fed directly into Bain's published annual and quarterly venture capital reports, covering investment activity across sectors and geographies.

Her work began with data segmentation using Alteryx, processing large transaction datasets to categorize investments by domain, deal size, and stage. She set upper and lower limits to isolate relevant transactions and ensure the numbers were clean before any analysis moved forward.

From there, the team moved into visualization, translating the segmented data into graphs and pictorial formats suitable for client-ready decks. Bharathi contributed across both stages rather than staying fixed to one task.

The harder part was the final layer: drawing out what the numbers actually meant. Each section of the report required summary findings, not just charts, so the team had to articulate what the data represented and what it implied about venture activity in a given period or sector.

Bain's zero-defect policy shaped how Bharathi approached this work. Every output was cross-checked, and she built the habit of validating her own work before submission, treating errors as compounding risks rather than isolated mistakes. She carried that discipline into her subsequent work at Third Bridge.
