The Story

Ayush was asked to assess whether a particular company had certain protection in place. He and his team analyzed the company's data restrictions and relevant structural factors, and concluded that certain protection existed. The client pushed back hard, stating he did not believe the conclusion was correct.

Rather than revising the analysis to match the client's expectation, Ayush asked for a call. He walked the client through the specific points that had led to the conclusion, explaining the reasoning behind each one. He also made space for the client to present his own perspective, listening to the counterpoints the client raised.

At the end of the call, the weight of the evidence held. The majority of the points supported the original conclusion, and the client acknowledged that the analysis was correct. Ayush's approach throughout was to treat the disagreement as a communication problem rather than a credibility problem: the analysis was grounded in facts, and the job was to make those facts legible to the client.
