The Story
Anurag's core work at KPMG involved taking raw, often fragmented data on corporate entities and turning it into structured reports that clients could use to make onboarding decisions. The entities he covered spanned multiple jurisdictions, and the ownership structures were frequently complex, with long shareholding chains and multiple layers of beneficial ownership.
He worked across 30+ corporate registries worldwide, extracting financial data and identifying shareholders, Global Ultimate Parents, and Ultimate Beneficial Owners. Tools including LexisNexis, LSEG, and Dow Jones were central to the research process.
For each report, Anurag organized findings under a consistent structure: sanctions checks, adverse media and regulatory issues, and a comment section that named the specific red flags the client needed to address before proceeding. The goal was not to present a data dump but to make the risk picture immediately legible to the reader.
Across his time at KPMG, he prepared over 500 such reports, covering high-risk corporate entities and supporting client onboarding decisions that required a clear, defensible risk assessment.
