The Story
Anuj started Vandaniya in 2019 in a niche that was specific to his local market, with limited data available and no established playbook to follow. The business operated in the livestock space, and the early challenge was understanding a market that had not been formally mapped.
To get a read on the opportunity, he conducted ground-level surveys and spoke directly with local business owners, supplementing that with whatever data he could scrape from the internet about the sector. The research was self-directed and built from scratch.
During COVID, Anuj observed a shift in his community toward healthier and more natural products. He tracked this both locally, through conversations and direct observation, and through broader market signals. He pivoted Vandaniya's product focus from conventional to organic offerings, betting that the shift was durable rather than temporary.
The conviction proved out. Over two years, he scaled operations fivefold through disciplined capital allocation, built a customer base of over 500, and achieved a 70% repeat transaction rate. He also digitized financial records, formalized audit trails, and introduced cost controls that improved the business's financial governance.
