Overview

Karan tested whether a product button was causing users to drop from a flow. He found that at least 60% clicked it, then showed that users completed the task through a path that did not require it, informing its removal.

The Story

Karan took on an open hypothesis about a product button that appeared to be underused. He built a funnel in PostHog to determine whether users were clicking it.

The first result challenged the premise: at least 60% of users clicked the button. He continued beyond the click event and examined where those users went next.

That deeper analysis showed that the useful path did not depend on the button. Karan surfaced the finding, and the team decided to remove the irrelevant step from the flow.
