The Story

A client came to KAVI with a strong conviction on a private mobility company. They were considering a significant investment and wanted research to support their thesis.

Akshat ran a multi-source primary research process. He spoke with past employees of the company, industry experts, and competitors. What emerged was a picture that did not match the client's expectations. The mobility sector had stalled, and the specific company was not performing well. More significantly, the company appeared to be packaging non-operating revenues into its reported top-line figures. Because it was a private company with no public filing obligation, this was not visible from the outside.

He documented the findings and the evidence trail, then prepared for a difficult client conversation. Before presenting, he took time to understand the client's underlying motivation: they wanted exposure to the company's growth story, not operational control.

With that context, he presented the evidence directly, walking the client through the specific findings and the sources behind each one. He led with evidence rather than opinion, knowing that conflicting opinions create friction while documented evidence creates clarity. After a substantive conversation, the client concluded that the investment was not the right move.
