The Story
Akshat encountered a space tech startup through his network at Investha. The founders had just registered the company and were at the drawings and technical design stage. They came in wanting to raise a large venture-funded round immediately, citing the capital intensity of the space tech sector.
His assessment was that they were not yet investable. The founders had exceptional pedigree, with decades of experience in the field at the highest levels. The industry thesis was strong: government support for domestic space tech was growing, global capital was flowing into the sector, and the founders were working on reusable rocket technology. But proof of concept was absent, and without it, any investor pitch would be asking for a leap of faith.
Akshat advised them to delay fundraising. He then worked with the founders to build a milestone roadmap: the specific proof points they needed to hit before going in front of an investor. He researched what mattered in the space tech narrative, filtered the pitch deck to the information that would actually move an investor, and helped the founders understand how to position the company for venture capital return expectations.
During that period, the founders secured a significant grant from a state government, which materially strengthened their position. By the time they were ready to fundraise, they had proof of concept, a government-backed validation signal, and a pitch-ready story.
