Adwita participated in the Young Leaders for Active Citizenship Research Scholar Initiative at YLAC, where she was awarded a scholarship grant based on her application.
The research project she contributed to examined the scope of public participation in the Indian lawmaking process, with a specific focus on the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2019. The paper was produced for client Civis, a civic technology organization working on public participation in policy.
The research required her to engage with legislative processes, stakeholder participation mechanisms, and the gap between formal consultation frameworks and their practical application. This was an early exposure to the kind of question she would later pursue more deeply at Polysee: how policy on paper translates into practice, and where the structural constraints lie.
She was recognized as part of the team that received the Team of the Fellowship award, and was individually called out as Fellow of the Fellowship during her Student Fellow engagement at YLAC.
