The Story
Aditi was brought onto the Sports Strategy Pod at Monitor Deloitte at a point where a major US sports league wanted to understand how to increase visibility through creator partnerships. The brief was clear on the goal but left the research structure entirely open.
She started by mapping the creator activation landscape across the industry, benchmarking leagues at different tiers: larger, more established leagues, peers at a similar scale, and smaller organizations. Rather than collecting examples at random, she organized the research around four activation levers: content access, compensation model, platform preference, and creator tier. Each benchmarking example was built into a case study showing how a league had deployed those levers and what it produced.
One finding that shaped the recommendations was the NBA's content access model, where the league gave large YouTube creators access to official footage at no monetary cost. The league received content and engagement in return without any direct spend. This non-monetary model became a reference point for what was possible within a constrained budget.
Aditi owned the entire research output. The US team provided strategic direction and client communication; she owned everything from sourcing to synthesis. When she could not find something, or found something unexpected, it was her judgment that determined what went forward.
The final output was a creator activation framework that mapped the levers, showed how they could be adjusted based on budget and goals, and gave the client a set of recommendations calibrated to their constraints. She flagged trade-offs explicitly, including the tension between micro-influencer authenticity and macro-influencer reach, so the client could make an informed choice.
