The Story
Abhiram's work on field recruiter and supplier performance grew out of a broader conviction he had developed across his time at Snabbit: any ops problem can be solved through metric design or incentive design. The question is whether the metrics are fair, transparent, and clearly owned.
He started by talking to people on the ground. The goal was to understand what they actually saw when they looked at their metrics, whether they understood what to improve, and whether the incentives felt realistic. What he found was that the existing structure left too much ambiguity about ownership and too little connection between effort and reward.
He redesigned the metrics so that each person on the ground could see exactly what they needed to improve and what action would move it. Incentives were set to be realistic but stretchy, giving people a genuine reason to push. He worked through the alignment process with everyone involved, making sure the new structure was understood before it went live.
The execution was straightforward but required patience: talking to everyone, getting their alignment, and then actually running the new system.
